State of the School & All Things Wellington 2025 - February 20
You are invited to an evening celebrating Wellington’s community and vision for the future. On Thursday, February 20, at 6:30 p.m., Head of School Eliza McLaren will deliver a State of the School address, providing key insights into her learnings about Wellington, updates on current programs and initiatives, and announcements about upcoming plans and the strategic planning process. Additionally, the evening will showcase student performances and include videos that highlight Wellington’s enduring values. Summer Program 2025 - Registration Opens Soon
The 2025 Wellington Summer Program offers eight weeks of exciting opportunities for students in prekindergarten through grade 12. Registration opens for Wellington families on Tuesday, January 21, and for the general public on Tuesday, February 18. Well Life Series - Developmentally Appropriate Approaches to Drug Safety - January 30

We are excited to formally relaunch one of Wellington’s longest-standing traditions – the Birthday Book Program! Your donation will provide a new book to the Abbott Family Learning Center's collection and will include a nameplate with your child's name and birthday. ISACS Parent Webinar Series
The Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) continues its parent webinar series with “How to Raise Socially Skilled Tweens & Teens Who Can Navigate Friendship Challenges.” Licensed mental health therapist and author Phyllis L. Fagell will share practical strategies to help kids in grades 3–10 boost social skills, manage setbacks, take risks, and find their place in peer groups. Grandparent Information Needed for Grandparents & Special Friends Celebration - May 2
Grandparents and special friends are invited to our annual celebration on Friday, May 2, 2025. We need your help to ensure invitations are sent to grandparents. Please log in to your Veracross parent portal and navigate to Family Profile Changes, Household Contacts, and Contacts for My Children to ADD grandparent email and mailing addresses (please no parent information). For existing grandparent records, you must email to share address updates. To request that grandparents DO NOT receive a printed or digital invitation in March, email eggleton@wellington.org by February 15. If your child does not have a grandparent to attend on May 2, consider sharing the registration link with a special friend (18+) once registration opens on March 28. Questions? In this unique session, you'll experience and co-create together a change-making process that will build our connectedness as a team and offer a chance for us to formulate a shared vision for our work together. Winter Sports Update
Upper School:
Upper School Girls Basketball: The upper school girls basketball team is continuing their hot start to the season, winning their 3rd straight Jaguar Invitational, with Elodie Ware ’25 being named tournament MVP for the 3rd year in a row. The team is off to an 8-3 start, including a win against undefeated Dayton’s Dunbar and league wins against Bishop Rosecrans, Fairfield Christian, Millersport, Berne Union, and Miller!
Upper School Swimming and Diving: The upper school swimming and diving team continued to swim well over the winter break, including meets on December 28 and January 4, in which Wellington athletes won 23 events across the two meets. The team beats the competition and beats themselves, with 10 different personal bests being secured over the two meets!
Middle School:
Middle School Swimming: The 200-medley relay team of Emily Ricci ’29, Madeleine Scantland ’30, Avery Pugh ’29, and Adela Palmer ’29 broke the middle school record by almost five seconds with a time of 2:10.35 at their last meet before winter break! At the meet, Wellington also finished with four first places finishes: 200 medley relay, 200 free (Adela Palmer ’29), 50 free (Madeleine Scantland ’30), and the 50 butterfly (Emily Ricci ’29).
