Designing a Winning Move: Jeanie DeSantis '26 and the Chess-Playing Robot
What does it take to turn an idea into reality? Jeanie DeSantis ’26 put her CAD skills into action by designing a custom attachment for a robotic arm, allowing it to grip and move chess pieces precisely. Collaborating with Chris Fischer P ’24 ’26, Wellington’s engineering consultant, and a team of Ohio State University electrical engineering capstone students, she helped bridge the gap between digital design and real-world application. Read the blog

Well Life Series Book Club - "Growing Up in Public—Coming of Age in a Digital World" - April 7 

Join Wellington division heads on Monday, April 7, at 5:30 p.m., in Doerschlag Den for an interactive discussion of Devorah Heitner’s book, including how we can help tweens and teens navigate boundaries, identity, privacy, and reputation in their digital world. Upper School Theatre Presents: "Little Shop of Horrors" - April 3-5

Get ready for a darkly comedic, sci-fi musical classic! Wellington’s Upper School Theatre brings “Little Shop of Horrors” to the stage, featuring an R&B-singing, man-eating plant with a taste for fame. Follow meek florist Seymour Krelborn as he navigates unexpected success—and the terrifying price that comes with it. Showtimes are April 3-5 at 7 p.m. (PG-13 for strong language and violence). Wellington to Host 2025 State Chess Championships - April 26-27

Wellington will host the 2025 Ohio Elementary, Middle, and High School State Chess Championships on April 26-27! This is the official state championship for the state of Ohio. Register here.   

 

ISACS Parent Webinar Series - March 11

The Independent Schools Association of the Central States (ISACS) continues its parent webinar series with "Raise Your Children & Adolescents to be Authentically Successful, Emotionally Healthy & Prepared to Thrive." Dr. Ken Ginsburg, a pediatrician specializing in adolescent medicine at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, will share strategies for fostering resilience, emotional intelligence, and self-care in young people. Upper School Girls Basketball: 
The upper school girls basketball team topped off another excellent season with a 19-5 record, earning Division VII Central 2 District Runners Up! Elodie Ware ’25 was named to the District 10 Division 3-7 All-Star team and as an alternate for the North/South Game. Assistant Coach Pete Baumann was named District 10 Division 6-7 Assistant Coach of the Year! 

Upper School Boys Basketball: 
Assistant Boys Basketball Coach Cameron Lawrence was named District 10 Division 6-7 Assistant Coach of the Year!

Upper School Swimming and Diving: 
The boys swim team sent two individuals and two relays to the State Championship meet. Cameron Petitt ’25 finished 4th in the 200 free and got his third State Runner-Up banner in the 500 free. Jack Mahaffey ’27 finished 14th in the 50 free and 3rd place in the 100 backstroke. The 400 free relay of Jack Mahaffey ’27, Ross Braswell ’25, Kai Rozmiarek ’25, and Cameron Petitt ’25 finished 12th. All these performances gave the team an overall finish of 12th out of 63 teams!  

The diving team also sent three athletes to the State Diving Championship meet, with Dottie Blackburn ’27 finishing 26th, Finn Wheeler ’25 finishing 13, and Jack McCarthy ’25 finishing 12th! 

Upper School Bowling:
The upper school bowling team had an outstanding post-season run. The boys won the Mid-State League Tournament and placed 22nd in Sectionals. The girls placed 3rd at the Mid-State League Tournament, and 12th at Sectionals. The girls team also sent two individuals to the District tournament: Annie Shen ’26 and Annabeth Pan ’27! 

Middle School: 

Middle School Boys Basketball: 
The 8th grade boys basketball team finished as Runner Up in the Mid-State League Cardinal Division tournament!
