Dear Parents,
I am pleased to share Wellington’s upcoming plans for returning to campus in the fall because, quite frankly, I am very excited to see our students on campus again! Ultimately our approach prioritizes in-person learning, as recommended by the American Association of Pediatricians, while also providing flexibility for families to decide what is best for them based on their unique circumstances.
Our small class sizes and outstanding faculty pave the way for a program where students, whenever possible, can be on campus 5 days per week, maintaining important curricular elements along with opportunities for social-emotional growth and connections. We plan to adhere to the established 2020-2021 school year calendar with our original start date of August 26, 2020.
Click here to see version one of our Fall 2020 reopening plan. In this plan, you’ll see our approach, scenario planning and key areas of investment. You’ll also find answers to many of the questions you may have about what school may look and feel like this year.
One example of the key investments we’re making is in the area of technology. We will leverage new hardware and software to support consistent learning, wherever students find themselves. These “two-way” audio and video upgrades for our classrooms elevate our program well beyond this baseline pandemic planning. Faculty will be adopting the concept of “HyFlex” course design, originally developed for higher education, across all division levels to create agility wherever possible in their program delivery and assessment.
We will continue to respond and share more, especially as it relates to our programs and policies, in a note to our community by the end of this month. We will continue to refine and revise these plans, based on up-to-date and relevant medical information and guidance as it becomes available. We appreciate your patience and partnership as we finalize these details.
Our team is fully invested in adapting our current program and approach to guidelines as they may change in the future. We are confident we will be able to deliver a program for students that elevates their learning, builds social skills and connections, and maintains safety and health.
I believe that we are uniquely positioned to navigate this circumstance and Wellington will continue to innovate, working to provide our families an outstanding educational experience, while being part of a vibrant, optimistic, and connected community.
Finally, I understand the significant resources you commit to be a part of the Wellington community. During these uncertain times, I am so appreciative of the many, many families who have shown trust and faith in our school. We are fully dedicated to delivering on that trust. I look forward to welcoming students back to campus for our 2020-21 academic year.
Go Jags!
Warm regards,
