Dear Wellington Parents and Caregivers,

As the holiday season quickly approaches, I am sharing a few important reminders and deadlines as well as newly developed learning model options for the 2020 holiday season.

Post-break learning from home option: To keep our community as safe as possible, we are opening an elective two-week learning from home option for both post-Thanksgiving and post-Winter Break. This alternative will provide a quicker path back to campus than the established learning model preference updates, which currently happen once a month.

When you sign up for this two-week learning from home option, students in Little Jags through 8th grade will receive prepared learning materials for this defined time period. Instructions for pick up of these materials will come directly to you in the coming days, should you sign up. The deadline to select this post-break learn from home option is this Friday, November 20 at midnight. Click here to see the options and sign up your student.

Holiday gatherings: As a reminder, each of us has the responsibility under the Wellington Community Commitment to limit contact with others as much as possible. We hope that you will avoid holding or participating in holiday gatherings. We know this is a challenging request, however, we also must all understand this is an unprecedented situation. Even small gatherings have been shown to contribute to the accelerating spread of COVID-19. If your household chooses to attend or host a holiday gathering, we urge you to follow all public health guidance, including wearing masks (even while visiting with family or friends outside of your household), practicing physical distancing, avoiding large groups, and limiting time spent indoors. The CDC has additional tips about holiday travel and celebrations.

Travel: The Ohio Department of Health has identified “states reporting positive testing rates of 15% or higher” in its COVID-19 Travel Advisory. If any Wellington student travels to any of these areas, or has family members that visit from those areas, the student will be expected to quarantine at home for 14 days before returning to campus.

Thank you for your collective dedication to the safety of our community. Please remember that we each have the potential to impact Wellington’s ability to continue having in-person school days and making this a successful school year.

Go Jags!

Warm regards,

Dr. Jeff Terwin
Head of School
