Wellington Celebrates Perfect ACT Scores

Wellington is proud to share that Annie Shen '26 and Hannah Guffrey '25, both received a composite score of 36 on the ACT - the highest score on the assessment, which includes multiple-choice tests in English, mathematics, reading, and science.

Annie and Hannah demonstrate an impressive commitment to academic excellence and are also valued members of the Wellington community as a whole.

“Annie is a warm-hearted, kind, and curious person who approaches life and the classroom in the same manner,” said Upper School History Teacher Erin Cornett. "She is a diligent student who is in it for much more than the grade. She continuously demonstrates how much she wants to learn and understand the class content in full.”

Annie is very involved in the Wellington community, including as an artist, member of the bowling team, and representative at Ohio Youth in Government. She is one of the few juniors who has been a part of Ohio Youth in Government since her first year in upper school and will serve as a committee chair this year.

“Annie maintains this active involvement in the community while excelling across the board academically,” said Upper School History Teacher Victoria Liriro. “She does all of these things while displaying a sense of humility, a constant willingness to learn, and a readiness to help others.”

Hannah embodies Wellington’s values in her academic pursuits as well as her extra curricular involvement including yearbook, robotics, cross country, and track.

“Hannah’s intellect is matched closely by her creativity and artistic prowess,” said Director of College Counseling Emily Berty. “She has extended her learning beyond some of Wellington’s most rigorous courses by partnering with teachers to develop several independent studies in advanced math and science topics. Although STEM classes reflect her passion, Hannah is also an excellent writer, demonstrating her craft in her English and history courses. She also excels in her study of French.”

Ms. Berty also notes how deeply Hannah values her friendships.

“She strives to be a good friend at all times. Hannah is also quick to support peers in the Wellington community, whether that be helping them in the classroom or showing up to cheer at a friend’s sporting event.”
