Thank you for your feedback on our August poll around bringing back a much-loved tradition in the form of a parent/child party or dance. It is clear people are interested in this type of event, but we are still finalizing a date, determining feasibility of venue, coordinating co-chairs,, and coordinating a team of volunteers.
We can't make this event happen without some new faces willing to step up and take the lead! If you are interested in co-chairing this event, please email wpa@wellington.org as soon as possible. We are currently looking at dates in late January through early March.
Stay tuned for more information!
WPA Board Leadership
Welcome to the WPA!
As a parent or guardian of a Wellington student, you are automatically a member of the Wellington Parents Association!
Getting involved and volunteering your time at school events throughout the year is a great way to use your skills, meet new people, build lasting friendships, and support our children. Parent volunteers are always needed and most welcome. The WPA's goal is to support, promote, and strengthen the school community. Wellington has a wonderfully diverse community, and both values and celebrates individual voices.
We hope you will join us in our effort to support the school and the entire Wellington community. We still don’t know exactly what this year will look like, but we will keep you up to date on all events and activities. Please keep an eye out for WPA emails and join us for our monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of each month.
We look forward to meeting you soon!

AAPI Affinity Group

Wellington’s AAPI Affinity Group was founded in 2021 with a mission to bring Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) families together, foster shared experiences, support increased cultural awareness at Wellington, and reinforce the value of diversity and inclusion within families.
Alongside Wellington’s Administration and DEI committee, the AAPI Affinity Group knows that the deeply troubling and tragic events related to rising anti-Asian violence seen across the nation must be met with continued efforts to raise awareness, deepen understanding, and create a community of belonging. The AAPI Affinity Group is committed to being a part of this journey to make positive change and impact.
In the 2020/2021 school year, the group’s pilot initiatives included: compiling the list of AAPI-relevant books and documentaries, cross-division parent conversations, and ink-painting/calligraphy activities in lower school. For the current school year, the group aims to create a series of activities to engage families and the greater Wellington community that include Asian-cultural festival events (Mid-Autumn Festival, Diwali, Lunar New Year, among others), APPI history book donation, and group playdates.

Contact: Asisa Chiles
As single parents, or co-parents, there are often struggles that are hard to explain to other two-parent households. It’s nice to be able to have a community of people who understand. Please consider gathering with us to help normalize some of the daily tasks that can make co-parenting or single parenting seem tough. We will plan activities with families, as well as just parents, so that we can connect and build a stronger community, together.
Wellington is a community that encourages connections and engagement for everyone! Wellington has a vital need for parent volunteers. Whether you have 15 minutes or 15 hours to volunteer - there is a place Wellington can benefit from your talents and interests! Indicate your interest to help, and a WPA facilitator will reach out to learn more about your areas of interest and share immediate ways to get involved.
We always have specific needs in upcoming events. Check out the list of opportunities here. WE NEED YOU!
In February 2025, many WPA members participated in an amazing workshop experience led by Wellington parents Jennifer and Jason Miller P '26. Together, we walked through a changemaking process using the Theory U framework from MIT and formulating a shared vision for our work together.
As leaders in the school, this was a rare chance for this group of caring parents and caregivers to come together for deep listening, connection, and collaboration around our common purpose - our Wellington community and ensuring all thrive in it!
Some topics that rose out of this workshop include:
- Wellbeing and Belonging
- Transparency in Finances
- Collaboration Between Divisions
- Collaboration Between Leadership & Parents
We are excited to share that the next chapter of WPA Leadership Lab will continue in a committee format in the 2025-2026 school year. The group will act as incubator of innovation at Wellington, completing the Theory U framework, and determining the direction of this group to lead change.
If you are interested in participating in the next phase of the WPA Leadership Lab, use the sign up link below. More information will be shared soon about our first meeting for the 25-26 school year.
During the 2024-25 school year, we formed our first middle school house parent committees to support House activities and promote additional bonding. The 24-25 volunteers will continue into this year unless you tell us otherwise. We invite additional interested parents to sign up to participate in the 25-26 school year using this form. Heather Pedigo P ’32 ’33, MS house parent coordinator, will be in touch with more information soon!
One way to support community engagement at Wellington is to volunteer in the classroom. For Little Jags, prekindergarten, kindergarten, and grades 1-4, Wellington Parents Association coordinates room parents to support the teacher and students in a variety of ways specific to their classroom.
- Fall Party
- Winter Party
- Friendship Party
Room parents also coordinate a special class photo the day of the grade level play and provide a simple, printed keepsake for each child to take home. (Cast parties no longer take place.)
This role also works well with secondary helpers, if that sounds more up your ally. Indicate your volunteer interest by signing up below.
View volunteer guidelines here: Guidelines for ECLS Parent Volunteers
Lunch bunch is available for families with students in kindergarten through grade 4 only. Lunch Bunch is a great opportunity to have lunch with your child(ren), as well as meet other students, parents, and teachers. Lunch, in the Thomas Family Dining Room, is served with a teacher at the head of each table. On Lunch Bunch dates, half of the teachers are excused and parents are invited to volunteer. Each parent is assigned a table with his/her child and assists with the lunch experience. Lunch is offered in two sessions (Lunch A - 1, 2, & 3 or Lunch B - K & 4).
