Welcome from Head of School
Welcome from Head of School
Welcome to Wellington!
The moment I stepped foot on Wellington’s campus, I knew it was the right school for my family and me. I hope that you, too, will quickly sense that Wellington is a joyful, ambitious, and essential school that lives up to its mission of helping students find their purpose and realize their potential for tomorrow’s world. We value curiosity, authenticity, ambition, empathy, and responsibility.
Wellington reflects our deepest hopes for young people by engaging them in meaningful and challenging curriculum within a community that both loves and supports them. In 1982, a group of successful Columbus entrepreneurs who cared deeply about their children’s education came together to create a school that would aim for a higher vision of what education could be, and in doing so, offer a higher vision to our young people of what they can become because of their time here. One of the founders recently said to me that their initial goal was simple: “Create a school where students love learning and teachers love teaching.” Wellington is that school.
Wellington brings together a deliberately diverse student body. There is no such thing as a “typical Wellington student”; rather, the rich diversity in backgrounds and perspectives that our students bring each day strengthens our community and fosters real-world experience.
What do all Wellington students have in common? From Little Jags (age 3) to twelfth graders and beyond, they are curious, capable, and confident and they love coming to school. Wellington families prioritize their children’s education and choose to invest in the School’s mission and values. Wellington offers a sense of community for its families just as much as it provides a school for its students. Because of their time at Wellington, our students and alumni radiate confidence and drive change, creating a ripple effect from our campus out into the world.
How does Wellington provide this? The secret is our educators. Wellington believes in supporting and empowering outstanding teachers who in turn care deeply for their students. We believe that cultivating an environment in which teachers love teaching is the best way to unlock educational excellence and maximize Wellington’s potential.
Our commitment at Wellington is that our mission and values are lived out by our educators and in our programs, student by student. Whether you are exploring our website for the first time or have been a part of this community for years, I am confident you will feel this commitment in every Wellington interaction and experience you have.
Thanks for all you do for Wellington, and… Go, Jags!
